About Service Pack 4.13
Thomas Guide DigitialEdition 4.13 is still available for those developers using the Thomas Guide
Enteprise Pack and Mapcontrol version 4.13. If you are using these products,
you need to install Service Pack 4.13.
If you are NOT using the Enterprise Pack or Mapcontrol, then we
recommend installing Service Pack 4.21 , which will upgrade you to the latest Thomas Guide DE version.
You can determine your current version by starting your DigitalEdition, and selection "About Thomas Guide" from
the "Help" menu. If your version number is earlier than 4.01, it cannot be upgraded and you must purchase a new
copy of the Digital Edition in order to get the new features.
When you begin the download of Sp413.exe, save it to a temporary folder or your desktop,
then double-click on the file icon to start the Service Pack installation.

Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.13

- Help Topics improved
- Several additions and clarifications have been made to the Help Topics.
- Compatible with 4.13 versions of ToolBox, Enterprise Pack, and Mapcontrol
Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.12
- Windows 2000 Installer no longer requests CD-Rom
- The MS Windows® Installer will no longer request the
MS Office 2000® Cd-Rom when running the Digital Edition.
- Address Lookup Dialog Enhancement
- The Address Lookup form has better
examples and the Assistant Dialogs now list the address you are searching for.
Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.11
- Toolbox Compatibility
- Custom maps created with
the TGDE Toolbox can be viewed in version 4.11.
- Legend Printing.
- TGDE will print a list of
the User Points that are displayed on the map.
Users of the 1.0 version missed this feature,
which has been restored.
Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.10
- Printer lockups fixed
- If a printer did not have
enough memory to print a Map, sometimes the
entire computer would lock up, forcing you to
reboot. This error is now fixed and in general
printing is more robust.
- Zoom Bar
- On the lower-right of the
window a Zoom Bar appears. Slide the tab or click
on the slider bar to quickly Zoom In or Zoom Out.
- Toolbar Customization
- You can add a toolbar and
customize it by selecting Toolbars from the View
menu.
- New Opening Screen and Wizard
- The opening dialog has
additional features. It can also be accessed at
any time by selecting the Wizard button from the
main toolbar.
- Cross Street Lookup
- In the Address Lookup form,
you can look up by cross street.
- Hourglass during draw processes
- When the map is redrawing,
and hourglass will appear telling you when it is
drawing. You are still able to pan or zoom while
it is redrawing.
- New Query/Select Icon
- The Query/Select icon now
has an Arrow with a Question mark, so the user
can more easily see when the program is in
Query/Select mode.
Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.05
- Access Violations no longer occur.
- TGDE 4.04 produced access
violation error messages on some PCs. This has
been fixed.
- Panning to "Empty" Areas
of the Map
- In TGDE 4.04, if you panned
or zoomed to an area of the map which contained
no features (outside the map coverage area), the
gray background would fill the map window. In
V4.05, if you zoom/pan to such an area, the bell
rings and the view reverts to the previous view.
Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.04
- New Opening Screen
- A new opening screen has
been added to quickly take you to the most
popular features of TGDE: Find, My Points,
Address Lookup and Key Map.
- Removal of 25 User Points
Limitation
- You can now create an
unlimited number of User Points.
Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.03
- New File Format Uses Less Memory
- The Washington DC data is
delivered in a format that allows this version of
Thomas Guide Digital Edition™ to use less memory
than V4.01/4.02. If you have previously installed
the Clark County, NV dataset, it will
automatically be converted to the new format the
first time you open that dataset. If you cancel
the conversion or if the conversion does not
complete for any other reason, the program will
use the existing files and re-attempt the
conversion the next time you run the program.
- Updated Find Utility - The POI page
in the Find Utility now displays progress to the user as
it loads the data table. In addition, the Find
text-box now intelligently searches as the user types
text.
- When you select multiple points to
Go To in the Organize Points dialog, Thomas Guide DE now
puts all of the points into the query window.
- Windows NT Crashes in 256-Color
Mode - This has been fixed.
- Now displays colors better when
running in 256-color mode.
- Some printing problems have been
fixed.
- Some problems in address lookup
have been fixed.
- Previously, when viewing an
Internet map, the new layer would be shown at the
location viewed when Thomas Guide DE was first started.
Now it shows the new layer at the current viewing
location.
- Copy to clipboard now works from
the query window in all cases.
- Previously, when switching between
two data sets, the wrong location would be displayed.
This has been fixed.
- If only one data set is installed,
no longer asks user to choose a data set at startup.
- In the overview window, sometimes
the hand pan cursor would be displayed when the resizing
arrow cursor should be displayed (and vice-versa).
- In the main window, when the mouse
was in the surround area, the cursor would only show the
NE/SE/NW/SW arrows if it was exactly in the corner. This
has been fixed so that the cursor displayed now correctly
reflects the direction that the map will be panned.
- If the CD-ROM is not present, don't
offer Retry and Cancel buttons. Just show message box
asking user to insert CD-ROM and exit. When you insert
the CD-ROM, AUTORUN will automatically start a new
instance of the application.
Fixes and Enhancements in Version 4.02
- Occasionally an access violation occurs at program
startup.
- Sometimes maps fail to download from the Internet.
- Typing a page number in the Find Page tool and
pressing the Go To Map button does not display the page.
- A progress indicator is now displayed to show the
status of Internet downloads.
- Improved performance on Internet downloads.
- Many additional Internet map layers are available for
download from the Thomas Bros. Map Exchange.
